PS4 Console: The big games NOT coming to PlayStation 4 – Sony saving these for PS5

PS5: Sony unveil pricing for PlayStation 5 console

The PS4 already boasts a long list of impressive games that will remain popular with console owners for years to come. However, while the gaming machine remains one of the best-selling in recent years, the arrival of the PlayStation 5 means that many future releases will skip it. This is an eventual part of the console’s lifecycle, and there is some good news for gamers who aren’t ready, or having trouble, buying a PS5 in 2021. The PlayStation 4 has been available to buy in the UK since 2013, and it took much longer for Sony to replace it than what happened with the PS1, PS2 and PS3. The long time on the shelf meant that visual quality started to fall behind the PC platform, but that didn’t stop Sony from releasing some amazing games,

First-party exclusives for the PS4 included some of the best-reviewed titles on the market, including the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 2, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Many of these games ended up being given away for free as part of the PlayStation Plus subscription service, while others, like Days Gone, remain available to buy exclusively through the PlayStation Store.

Some of these titles, like the one mentioned above, will eventually arrive on the PC platform, but will never make the jump to the likes of Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X.

And many others will make the jump to the new PlayStation 5 console, with most available via backwards compatibility.

The big news is that Sony is also providing free upgraded versions of games that are available both on the PS4 and PS5.

A good example of this is Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, both of which come with better specs on the PlayStation 5.

But there are also next-gen exclusives that won’t be available on the PlayStation 4.

Gran Turismo 7 could arrive in 2022

It’s a growing list, and the PS5 already has some notable exclusives that can’t be played in 2021 on the PS4.

Sony has saved some notable projects to be showcased on the PlayStation 5 only, including Demon’s Soul and Astro’s Playroom, both of which have been reviewed well.

These can be downloaded and played right now and will soon be joined by other big juicy games.

THE BIG GAMES NOT COMING TO PLAYSTATION 4

Some big games are being saved for the PlayStation 5, meaning they will not be available on the PS4, or PS4 Pro consoles.

And when they do arrive, they could help Sony sell plenty of new consoles as there are some huge names to mention.

God of War was a huge hit on the PS4 and now Sony is saving God of War: Ragnarok for the PlayStation 5.

While it doesn’t have a release date, Ragnarok is expected to arrive in 2021 as a first-party exclusive.

Continuing the story of Kratos, Ragnorok will be a massive draw for those who enjoy the 2018 remake.

Speaking about the return of God of War on PS5, Kevin Zuhn, Creative Director, Young Horses shared this”

“I need to know what happens in the saga of Kratos and Boy. It’s rare that I finish a game and still feel excited by the prospect of more, but that’s God of War 2018 for me.

“There are so many worlds left to visit, so many mythological beings to axe, so many grumbly dad jokes to tell! I don’t know when exactly that’ll be, but I’m vibrating in anticipation of finding out.”

Gran Turismo 7 is another massive game being released this year on the PS5, skipping the PlayStation 4.

While Gran Turismo Sport proved popular, the next-gen Turismo experience will be closer to what gamers remember from previous instalments in the franchise.

Coming in 2022, Gran Turismo 7 will be the first major first-party racing exclusive heading to the PlayStation 5.

Hideaki Itsuno, Director for Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition commented on the upcoming release, adding: “Racing games are always the easiest way for players to feel the true capabilities of next generation gaming.

“I’m extremely excited to see what next generation experiences this title will offer. Hurry up and release it already!”

And another big release scheduled for 2021 that will be skipping the PS4 is Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

Rift Apart is another game that could be playable on the PlayStation 5 in 2021, and is the one that Sony has spoken the most about.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart arrives on PS5 on June 11, which will feature Ratchet & Clank battling against the evil Dr. Nefarious who uses a device that can access alternate dimensions to find a galaxy where he always wins.

A new character called Lombax will also be playable and will be available to explore new and familiar locales that have been given a dimensional twist.

And gamers can expect more news and exclusive PS5 games to be announced by Sony during 2021
